Toronto Raptors Acquire Small Forward P.J. Tucker

Minto Jain works as a real estate broker with Rex Realty, where he helps home buyers find their next home while also listing and selling properties. Outside of his work life Minto Jain is an avid follower of NBA basketball, with his favorite team being the Toronto Raptors.

While the Raptors have shown interest in small forward P.J. Tucker for about a year, it was not until February that they finally pulled the trigger, signing the former Suns player. In exchange for Tucker the Raptors traded Jared Sullinger to the Suns, along with two second-round picks.

If the name sounds familiar to Raptors fans, it is because this is not P.J. Tucker’s first time playing for Toronto. The forward was first drafted by the team in 2006, though his brief run with Toronto only lasted for 17 games, with Tucker playing only about five minutes the entire season.

Tucker then spent five years playing basketball abroad in Israel, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, and Greece. By 2012 he was ready to return to the States, starting his run with the Phoenix Suns. Over the six total seasons P.J. Tucker has played in the NBA, he has averaged 7.8 points per game with 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Positions on the Basketball Court

In his professional life, Dr. Minto Jain serves as an independent agent with Rex Real Estate Brokerage in Toronto, Ontario. An avid basketball fan in his free time, Dr. Minto Jain follows the Toronto Raptors and has attended several of the team's games.

In a basketball game, each team sends five players onto the court. A team usually assigns its tallest player to the position of center, who plays closest to the basket and must be able to effectively accept passes, block defenders, and make scoring attempts under or near the basket. This multi-skilled player needs to demonstrate competency in a variety of shooting styles, including hook and jump shots, as well as in blocking shotmaking attempts from the opposing team.

The next tallest player typically takes the position of power forward. Expected to be one of the fastest and strongest players on the team, he or she oversees the lane and thus must be effective in rebounding and inside shooting. The small forward is typically shorter but demonstrates high levels of skill in distance shooting, as this position requires the player keep back from the net to be ready for defensive play.

The shooting guard is often the shortest athlete overall but is a strong shooter and has a fast dribble. He or she must be able to effectively move the ball down the court and consistently make shots beyond the three-point line.

The point guard, meanwhile, is primarily responsible for setting his or her teammates up to shoot. Skilled in coordination and strategy, he or she can dismantle a defense and execute offensive tactics on the spur-of-the-moment. Like his or her four colleagues, the point guard draws on the strengths of his or her teammates to drive a team's success.

Aim for Seva's Free Student Hostels

Minto Jain joined Mississagua, Canada’s Kingsway Real Estate Brokerage, Inc., as a real estate broker in 2014. When he is not helping clients buy or sell property, Minto Jain engages with charitable organizations such as Aim for Seva. Through his arrangement with Aim for Seva, he supports the education of one child every year in perpetuity.

Aim for Seva, an extension of the All India Movement (AIM), is a nongovernmental organization that focuses on providing educational opportunities to children in some of the country’s most remote and underserved regions. Aim for Seva maintains a number of unique programs and services, including free student hostels throughout the country.

The inability to easily access educational facilities ranks as one of the primary reasons that nearly 17.7 million children do not attend school. Free student hostels provide individuals with much more than a safe place to stay in close proximity to school. Additional benefits include tuition support, health care, and school uniforms.

Students also attend diverse after-school programs, from athletic activities like yoga and cricket to vocational pursuits such as computer literacy and English language training. To learn more about student hostels and the Aim for Seva program, visit www.aimforseva.org.

Nuclear Medicine Offers Physicians Valuable Diagnostic Information

An entrepreneur and a licensed real estate broker from Mississauga, Ontario, Dr. Minto Jain also has experience as a professor of surgery at Queens University. As a co-owner of Medical Imaging Centres (MIC), Dr. Minto Jain has helped the company expand into the area of Nuclear Medicine.

Physician-owned MIC offers diagnostic imaging services to patients. In addition to X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, fluoroscopy, cardiac testing, and bone mineral densitometry services, it offers nuclear medicine services.

Nuclear medicine involves giving a patient a small amount of radioactive material, known as radiotracers, to ingest. The material can be injected intravenously, inhaled, or swallowed. After the material has traveled to the correct organs, a gamma camera is utilized to observe the function of internal systems.

Less invasive than exploratory surgery, nuclear medicine allows physicians to observe the molecular function of a patient’s systems and identify serious conditions in their earliest stages. The information provided during a nuclear medicine procedure is unlike the data provided by any other diagnostic test.

A nuclear medicine procedure can last anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours. Patients typically return to normal activities within the same day. Over time, the radioactive material will naturally decay and exit the body.

A Brief Overview of the Mississauga Half Marathon

A graduate of the University of Chicago, where he earned his MHPE (master of health professions education), Minto Jain has served as a real estate broker since 2014. Minto Jain enjoys running and has run the Mississauga Half Marathon three times.

Created in 2004, the Mississauga Marathon is held each year in Ontario. A participant in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge, the marathon organization has raised more than $700,000 for 60 charities across the country.

Dedicated to becoming the top running event in Canada, the Mississauga Marathon offers a range of options for all abilities and experience levels, from a 2K fun run to a half marathon and full marathon. With an elevation decline of nearly 100 meters from the start of the race to its end, the Mississauga half marathon covers 21.5 kilometers.

The 2017 half marathon will be held May 7, beginning and ending at the same points as the full marathon but without its lengthy loop. To keep runners safe, officials maintain aid stations approximately every four kilometers. The half marathon is open to both runners and walkers.

Beginner Tips for Half Marathon Training

Minto Jain, a former assistant professor of surgery at Queen’s University, has worked as a real estate broker in Mississauga, Ontario, for more than two years. An avid runner, Minto Jain has completed three half marathons.

A step up from a 10K run, a half marathon covers approximately 21 kilometers. Before training for a half marathon, runners should build a base of running 15 to 20 miles per week and be able to run at least five miles in a single session. To train for a half marathon, runners should:

- Choose a training length. Many half-marathon training programs last 10 to 16 weeks. Even experienced runners would be well-advised to choose a program that lasts at least 12 weeks, which allows for delays due to sickness, injury, or other issues. The number of weeks in the training program will dictate how many miles a runner must train for each day.

- Get enough rest. Especially important for runners who are not half-marathon veterans, resting allows muscles and joints time to relax and recover. As most half-marathon training plans are divided into four days of short runs and one day of a long run, training programs should schedule one day off after a long run and one day off after three short runs.

- Remember to train mentally. Running a half marathon is challenging physically and mentally. On long run days and during the half marathon itself, use mental tricks to keep the run manageable. For instance, make the mental journey less daunting by thinking of the 21 kilometers as roughly two different 10K runs. Staying mentally focused helps runners reach their goal and cross the finish line.

How to Make Running More Interesting and Easier

Minto Jain earned his MHPE at the University of Chicago, Illinois, where he studied education. Currently, Minto Jain is a real estate broker at Kingsway Real Estate Brokerage, Inc., in Mississauga, California, where he prospects his own leads to bring in business. When away from real estate, he enjoys running.

Running when you’re a beginner can be quite challenging. After you’ve been running a while, you may wonder how you can make it more interesting and exciting. The sport can quickly come to feel like a chore when you go for a run in the same neighborhood each day. Choosing different scenic routes every time you run, or at least on some of your runs, is sure to keep the activity fresh. By varying your route you may not even notice how fast the minutes are going by, as you will be too focused on taking in your new surroundings.

Aside from finding new scenery, you can make running a bit easier by strengthening your quads. The stronger your quadriceps are, the easier it will be to lift your legs during a run. In addition, quad strengthening is essential for protecting your knees. A quick exercise you can do when you are sitting down begins by putting one of your ankles over the other. Next, lift your lower leg off the floor and straighten it 10 times. Try doing multiple sets with both legs. If you’re doing it correctly, you will feel the burn right above your knee.
